Quick updates - May 2021 As some of you may know, I am currently heavily pregnant therefore I'm spending more time sleeping and sorting out family life rather than being productive with Cubby Hole. The books are still available to buy but I have taken a little step back from the social media. I will return as soon as I am less of a hilarious 'burden' on my family. I have penciled in the next topic for the flashcards to be dim sum dishes. Supply delay - There is still an international postal issue with Taiwan and Hong Kong. I am expecting it to be resolved soon so we can re-stock. |
New BooksWe have a few additions and re-stocked items to the collection.
The theme seems to rebels but it wasn't on purpose. It's difficult to put a personal favourite but The Snurtch (不是我,是小怪獸) is an amusing read. It reminds me of Kevin (凱文), which is also available at Cubby Hole. We're always interested in your reviews of the books and recommendations for future additions, so please do message us when you can. Happy Browsing!! |
Teaching Cantonese in a country other than Hong Kong/Southern China can be frustrating with variable success rates, and it depends on the child's ambient exposure to the language as well as the standard of Cantonese of the parent. In our household, when reading a Chinese book during bedtime, characters are often replaced with the colloquial reference. In a drive to help parents, as well as a self-learning exercise, we have started a series of flashcards that are being published on our Facebook and Instagram profile. Our first series on clothing has been well received. Please do provide as much feedback as you can as we welcome all perspectives and corrections. Hopefully there won't be many of the latter. |
